A bit about Lucy Ranger...
Before I taught mindfulness, I was a Training Manager for two major newspaper and magazine publishers for over 20 years. Having always sought to “fix” my own anxiety and pain issues, I discovered the benefits of practicing mindfulness about 12 years ago. After redundancy, it seemed fated that I should combine my training skills with my passion for the transformational effects of mindfulness. I qualified to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction with Mindful Academy International, and I went on to complete the 4 year Masters in Teaching Mindfulness from Bangor University (Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice) studying under some of the most renowned experts in mindfulness in the UK.
My Frazzled Story…
Living life on high alert and frazzled!
For years I had lived life on high alert, and being a single mother and the only breadwinner had taken its toll. I was, to use a word used regularly by Ruby Wax, “Frazzled”.
Thanks to someone recommending Ruby Wax’s books to me, I listened to one of her audio books. She spoke extensively about how mindfulness had helped her and I was hooked. Everything resonated so deeply and it felt like this could be the answer.
Mindfulness changed my life
I began to consume everything I could find about mindfulness and took an 8-week course. I can honestly say it changed my life. My perspective changed, I was calmer, I was happier, and I was more confident to make the decisions in life that were best for me.
The opportunity of redundancy
When the opportunity for redundancy arose, it was an easy decision to know what I would do next. I had trained people for the best part of 20 years and I wanted to share mindfulness with anyone who might benefit.
I retrained to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction with Kathy Ward from Mindful Academy International, and subsequently began a Masters in Mindfulness with Bangor University (The Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice) studying under some of the most renowned experts in Mindfulness in the UK.
I am now dedicated to helping others through teaching mindfulness and will always give people the option to try a meditation free of charge before they commit. As well as teaching courses to groups and individuals, I regularly work with three difference cancer support centres, a carers organisation, a cerebral palsy charity and I run a bi-weekly meditation group online which is in-person once a month. I also offer retreats and workshops (day and residential).
